If you want to be sure that HMRC will stick to the timescales it has given for processing inheritance tax accounts (IHT400) then you should make sure you follow the guidance below. You need to make sure that when you submit Form IHT400 you give all the information that HMRC will need. This making sure that you:
- Answer all relevant questions in Form IHT400
- Complete and enclose all schedules that you have said, on Form IHT400, are included.
- Enclosing a copy of the will (and any codicils) where there is one.
If you make sure to adhere to the guidance and you submit all relevant forms, properly completed, then you can be sure that HMRC will process your IHT400 in time.
